Historically, the district was one of Prague's important industrial sites. Machine shops, a sugar refinery, Sigma, Mikrotechna, and the legendary Orion Chocolate Factory contributed to the neighborhood's special atmosphere. In today's new era, Modřany is home to unique lofts, not found anywhere else in the Czech Republic.
Ride a motorboat to a meeting in downtown Prague. Use your own or rent one in a nearby rental outlet on the Vltava riverfront. No license or permit is necessary. Only a few minutes on foot from your doorstep.
Modřany is a paradise for sports aficionados. Jogging, cycling, or in-line skating. One of Prague's most popular biking paths, the A2, winds along the Vltava's right bank from Mánes to Podolí Water Works, Prague-Modřany Rail Station, Zbraslav Bridge, the Jarov Settlement, and as far as Vraný nad Vltavou.
Discover the opposite side of the Vltava. A two-minute ferry ride from a nearby stop will take you to see the horse races in Chuchle on a Sunday or to your daily parkour practice.
Prague's inner ring road is a stone's throw away from Modřany. One of the arterial roads is only a few minutes away. You can drive either toward Smíchov and Hradčany, or out of town in the opposite direction. Alternatively, leave the car at home and take public transport. You'll be downtown within minutes.
